The X-Ray Technologist operates radiologic imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images of the body. This role involves preparing patients for procedures, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards to protect both patients and healthcare staff.
Establish rapport with patients to understand service needs and ensure cooperation during procedures
Prepare patients for radiological exams by positioning them and adjusting equipment settings
Operate imaging equipment and ensure proper exposure factors are applied
Follow radiation safety protocols, including use of shielding and beam restriction devices
Adhere to infection control policies and procedures
Maintain quality of radiographs by following established standards and making necessary adjustments
Document patient care and completed examinations accurately in records
Perform routine equipment checks, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs when needed
Monitor and maintain radiology supply inventory
Ensure a clean, safe, and compliant work environment
Stay current with professional knowledge by meeting continuing education (CME) requirements
Participate in team efforts and complete additional duties as assigned
Complete annual age-specific competency requirements
No prior experience required
Valid New York State Department of Health Radiologic Technologist License (required)
Strong competency in performing diagnostic imaging procedures
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
High attention to detail and quality standards
Strong organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills
Reliable and able to maintain a safe and effective work environment
