Multiplatform editor for Stars and Stripes Stars and Stripes is searching for a talented multiplatform editor to help provide independent news and information to the U.S. military community overseas. This is a unique opportunity to live and work in Greater Tokyo, one of the world’s most exciting and dynamic cities. Duties of this position — based at Yokota Air Base, Japan — include: - Timely, error-free updating and maintenance of content on Stripes.com . - Working collaboratively to give special care to staff stories, photos and video. This applies to both website presentation and social media treatment. - Keeping social media accounts up to date and active. - Writing headlines to increase engagement. - Monitoring news wires and other sources, choosing and highlighting angles relevant to Stars and Stripes’ audience. - Communicating with the entire web team to maintain a strong, 24-hour news flow, solve problems and promote learning. - Creating, assisting with and encouraging web-first projects, such as news stories, photo galleries, videos and roundups of social media reactions. Experience with and knowledge of the U.S. military is a major plus.
