Summary

The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating automated and non-automated equipment used in label manufacturing, including printing and inspection processes. The role ensures labels are produced accurately and efficiently according to client-approved proofs, specifications, SOPs, and work instructions. The position requires strong attention to detail, troubleshooting ability, quality focus, and the ability to meet production goals while minimizing waste and defects.

Responsibilities

• Operate automated and non-automated equipment used in label manufacturing.
• Perform pre-printing and post-printing production processes as directed by the Team Leader or manager.
• Set up and execute computer-controlled production runs and Bulk Transfer Labels using CLPS proprietary software.
• Follow department SOPs and Work Instructions (WIs) during production.
• Review client-approved proofs and associated documentation to manufacture labels according to specifications.
• Monitor label production for accuracy, completeness, quality, and compliance.
• Meet daily and monthly production goals and schedules.
• Communicate production obstacles and issues to management proactively.
• Troubleshoot equipment and production problems and identify appropriate solutions.
• Inspect label materials throughout the production process.
• Perform manual adjustments to correct printing inconsistencies, orientation issues, and defects.
• Operate equipment in a controlled manner to minimize waste and product defects.
• Identify and recommend opportunities for process, product, and environmental improvements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
• Perform multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining required quality standards.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of label manufacturing processes and various label constructions.
• Experience operating automated and non-automated production equipment.
• Knowledge of printing, inspection, and related pre-/post-production processes.
• Ability to interpret client-approved proofs, specifications, SOPs, and Work Instructions.
• Proficiency in setting up computerized production runs and willingness/ability to learn proprietary software such as CLPS.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify small defects and inconsistencies.
• Ability to perform manual equipment/process adjustments when required.
• Strong understanding of quality standards and defect prevention.
• Ability to meet production goals and schedules in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and quality.
• Strong communication skills and ability to escalate production issues appropriately.
• Organized approach to work and commitment to maintaining a clean work environment.
• Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify process optimization opportunities.
