C. Harper Auto Group is looking for a dependable, hands-on Building & Grounds Maintenance Team Member to help maintain our dealerships and facilities throughout the area.

If you're the type of person who can fix things, operate equipment, maintain property, work outdoors and handle a variety of jobs without needing someone standing over you , we want to talk with you.

This isn't just a grass-cutting position.

You'll help maintain the buildings, grounds, parking lots, landscaping and equipment across C. Harper Auto Group's dealership locations.

One day you may be landscaping.

The next you're repairing drywall, replacing lighting, clearing snow, fixing a minor plumbing issue, painting curbs, operating equipment or transporting a dealership vehicle.

COMPENSATION

• $17/hour

• Approximately $35,000 annually based on a 40-hour workweek

Candidates with experience operating skid steers, tractors, commercial landscaping equipment, large vehicles and general building-maintenance equipment may qualify toward the higher end of the range.

WHAT YOU'LL DO BUILDING MAINTENANCE

• Perform general building maintenance

• Inspect and replace lighting fixtures and bulbs

• Complete minor drywall repairs

• Perform touch-up painting and general painting

• Handle minor plumbing repairs

• Replace faucet washers and similar components

• Address clogged toilets and drains

• Maintain drinking fountains

• Assist with irrigation-system issues

• Perform routine facility inspections

• Identify maintenance concerns before they become larger problems

GROUNDS & LANDSCAPING

• Cut and maintain grass

• Operate riding mowers

• Operate push mowers

• Trim and edge landscaping

• Operate weed trimmers

• Use blowers and sprayers

• Maintain dealership landscaping

• Perform seasonal grounds maintenance

• Remove snow and ice

• Help maintain irrigation systems

• Keep dealership properties clean and professional

PARKING LOTS & EXTERIOR FACILITIES

• Maintain dealership parking lots

• Clear storm-water grates

• Maintain exterior signage

• Paint curbs

• Stripe parking areas when required

• Fill minor potholes

• Perform general exterior repairs

• Help maintain safe and professional dealership grounds

EQUIPMENT & VEHICLE OPERATION

Depending on experience and assignment, you'll operate equipment including:

• Riding mowers

• Push mowers

• Power tillers

• Power edgers

• Weed trimmers

• Blowers

• Sprayers

• Tractors

• Skid steer loaders

• Dump-bed trucks

• Large vehicles

• Basic hand tools

• Power tools

• Tow truck when required and properly qualified

You'll also help transport:

• Dealership vehicles

• Tools

• Equipment

• Materials

• Maintenance supplies

between C. Harper locations as needed.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO GET THINGS DONE.

This position is ideal for someone with experience in:

• Building maintenance

• Facilities maintenance

• Property maintenance

• Grounds maintenance

• Landscaping

• Commercial lawn care

• Apartment maintenance

• Hotel maintenance

• School or municipal maintenance

• Construction

• Handyman work

• Equipment operation

• General repair

• Commercial property management

You don't need to be a licensed electrician, plumber or contractor.

But you should be mechanically inclined, comfortable with tools and capable of handling everyday maintenance problems safely and correctly.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Building or grounds-maintenance experience preferred

• Landscaping experience preferred

• Mechanical aptitude

• Knowledge of basic hand and power tools

• Ability to identify the correct tool or equipment for a job

• Experience operating lawn-maintenance equipment

• Ability to operate riding and push mowers

• Experience with tractors or skid steers is highly desirable

• Ability to operate larger vehicles

• Basic plumbing knowledge helpful

• Basic drywall and painting skills helpful

• Ability to perform minor equipment maintenance

• Strong work ethic

• Dependable attendance

• Ability to work independently

• Ability to work safely and efficiently

• High school diploma or GED

• Valid driver's license

• Clean driving record

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must be able to:

• Work indoors and outdoors

• Work in changing weather conditions

• Stand and walk for extended periods

• Bend at the waist and knees

• Push and pull up to 50 pounds

• Lift and carry equipment and materials

• Carry up to 25 pounds while climbing stairs

• Safely operate light machinery and maintenance equipment

• Perform physically active work throughout the day

KNOW HOW TO OPERATE EQUIPMENT? WE WANT TO TALK.

If you already know your way around:

Skid steers.

Tractors.

Commercial mowers.

Dump-bed trucks.

Landscaping equipment.

Power tools.

Large vehicles.

that's valuable experience.

We're especially interested in people who can move comfortably between grounds maintenance, equipment operation and general building maintenance.

THIS ISN'T THE SAME JOB EVERY DAY.

That's one of the best parts of this position.

C. Harper operates multiple dealerships and facilities, which means there's always something that needs attention.

You might start the morning maintaining landscaping.

Later you're moving equipment to another dealership.

Then you're replacing a light fixture.

After that you're repairing drywall or addressing a plumbing issue.

During winter, snow and ice removal become part of keeping the dealerships operating safely.

If you'd rather have variety than perform the exact same task eight hours a day , you'll probably like this job.
